Well we are finally up to date with the blog! We have made it to Ho Chi Minh City after 2 and half weeks in Vietnam.
Yesterday we explored District 1 and 3 and visited some of the colonial buildings as well as Ben Thanh Market. So far we haven't been that successful at bargaining. Fortunately our only purchase at the market (some earrings) had a fixed price - our excuse anyway!
We ended the afternoon at the War Remnants Museum, which had some very upsetting displays. Painful but thought provoking.
With only 3 days here we arranged to do a tour of the Cu Chi Tunnels - a complex underground tunnel system built by the Vietnamese during the war, and apparently a must see. It was definitely an experience and not one for the claustrophobic. It was unbelievable to think that people spent the day down there - just travelling 100m in the ''5* tunnel'' - as our tour guide called it - which has been enlarged in places for tourists, was very scary and uncomfortable.
Wow, a slew of updates. Even making Victor jealous now which is no mean feat! Loving the pictures and the cookery course sounds fab. So glad you're having the time of your lives and LOVE LOVE LOVE the earrings! Where to next, Cambodia?

And so the adventure continues, I am so impressed at just how much you are packing in, but glad you are getting some R&R in between. So that will be Jon hooked on a new sport. Neil tried it in Bali and loved it too, me I will stick to snorkelling - mainly because I don't think I can cope with getting in and out of the wetsuit! Great pics, did you shrink Jon on purpose - looks like something fromn Alice in Wonderland and Steph you hair is getting so long - must be the heat. Keep us posted lots of love, J xx
ReplyDeleteHey Victoria!! Yeah we arrived into Cambodia yesterday (Phnom Penh) by speedboat from Vietnam. The cookery course was excellent already planning on doing a similar thing here! Cant believe we've managed to see and do so much already. Still so many more adventures to have!! Maybe you and Victor could do something similar?!
ReplyDeleteHey Spaghetti we cant believe how much we've seen and done already!! 2 weeks in Cambodia then off to Oz for a month. Jon is already planning the next opportunity to go diving! The cookery course was great - will have to come and visit and take over archie's cooking duties for a night when i get back and try out the recipes on you!! I bet Jon wishes he had shrunk going into the tunnels, I wish I had, - so small and hot down there.
ReplyDeleteMy hair is a nightmare - just wearing it back all the time. Looking forward to getting it cut off again when Im home.
